Rumour has it Nevada's been cracking down on people serving up food on the playa recently so I thought I'd check and see if anyone's had experiences with them. Has anyone actually gotten a permit from the state? How did that go?

Re: Permits
Thu, March 12, 2009 - 4:57 PMIn 2007 we were approached by the health inspectors and asked to restrict our use to our own camp and just do demo's for the public. Considering that we are part of the AEZ, which is 500 plus and that we only provided a source for cooking, it was not a big deal to comply. We just had to let the cookers know that they could not offer "Their" extra food to passers by.
In 2008 we applied and were issued a permit, but the Solar Death Ray 3000 did not make it out to the playa due to last minute crew and transportation issues.
This year we will apply again. $50 dollars might get you some playa education leeway if your not 100% with your compliance. No permit just gets you shut down. Be creative in compliance. an RV can meet many of the food storage, prep and cleaning station requirements.
