Instant Coffee...?

I'm a huge coffee addict and really can't start my day without at least one or two cups. Last year I used a french press but it was always such a pain in the ass cleaning it and dealing with the used grounds. I'm thinking about just using instant coffee this year. Which ones are the best? I suppose I could also just do tea for a week, but damn I really think i'll want some coffee.

Our first year we did the french press too...and yes, what a pain.
But instant coffee? Why deprive yourself of something that will make you smile as you start your day?

fits nicely on your camp stove, makes ten cups (enough to share)

Ana - is that all glass and steel? If so, that's amazing. Or are their plastic parts within? The ad only talks about the solid steel base.

The bottom is steel, and the decanter is glass, the rest (I believe) is plastic, like a regular coffee maker. Works beautifully. After making me dance around with glee when I first bought it, it has made for happy playa people on many occasions.

Ana, I love you! That thing looks incredible. Lifting a coffee filter and used coffee grounds straight out of the maker will be so much easier than messing w/ the french press again.

Looks like Target doesn't have them in store, but I think REI does. I'm going to go get it tomorrow and figure out to use it. Wow, this just made my night!

I thought it was fun to go find the espresso camps...or just go to center camp cafe. One time I was walking to CCC with cup in hand and got stopped a half a block from my camp by a guy who said "Dont go spend your money! I have espresso!" *giggle*

But I do always have those coffee tea-bag type things. Which only work if youre not a coffee snob. Which I AM, so I'd only use those if desperate :)

I cheat and buy the pre-mixed Frappachino's. Not the same as coffee, but the work is already done for me and I still get my coffee craving issues addressed.

check your finer truck stops.. they have coffee brewers that plug into your cigarette lighter.

I tried a cigarette lighter one, got it as West Marine, but found that they take too long. By the time you have a full cup, it is cold. Maybe there are better ones out there.

instead of instant, try JavaJuice. it is superstrong brewed coffee, and you just add it to hot water. its about 90 percent as good as a real cup of coffee (which is way better than dried instant, and less cleanup than brewing up.)

i use this thing for one cup at a time -- i just dump the coffee grounds into our compost bucket. use coarse ground (percolator grind)

for any of these, you might want to test at home (you still have 10 days) so you know how much coffee or water to use, or what grind works best, etc.

        Whoo hoo!!
Looks like this group should be on the coffee addicts tribe.

Oh, Big 5 and sport chalet are another two store options (got mine at Big 5)

I make a couple batches of cold brewed coffee before leaving for the playa using a Toddy Coffee Maker from these guys... www.toddyproducts.com/

I think World Market carries them as well.

Anyways, it basically makes a coffee concentrate. If you want hot coffee, add hot water. For iced coffee, add cold water. Tastes great!

I freeze some of it to help keep the ice chest cold as well.
